Supporting Frontline NHS Workers in their Wellbeing

Since Space to Breathe was founded we have developed programmes and support for people in stressful and difficult jobs. We are delighted that this has included frontline NHS Workers.

“Community CAMHS commissioned Space to Breathe in Feb 2019 to work with clinicians, helping inform a clearer understanding of the Service and Trust cultures alongside current stresses and pressures from a staff/team preceptive. Space to Breathe approached this work using a jigsaw art installation to record views using an inanimate object to hold all the information in one place providing a clear visual output for staff responses. This has been the most creative way, to date, community CAMHS has been able to obtain this information and staff feedback was extremely positive in relation to this approach and the Space to Breathes engagement with the service."

In 2020 we ran online wellbeing sessions for NHS staff, key workers and charity workers giving out so much during the pandemic. We helped these individuals with their wellbeing so they in turn would have the resilience to keep supporting others and keep Sheffield going through the crisis. We ran weekly groups attended regularly by 58 people who represent Sheffield NHS, Sheffield Council, Sheffield Health and Social Care, Sheffield Voluntary Action, SACHMA, Roshni, Sheffield Mind and Sheffield Housing amongst others

Our Wellbeing Days have also had a significant impact; 95% of participants say they would recommend the training to colleagues and 97.1% give the day either 4 or 5 out of 5.

"After the day, I am glad it wasn’t just a ‘day off’ – much more useful. I will be more productive in future; more than 1 days’ worth!"
