BREATHE DEEPLY

The “Breathe Deeply” card in our 24 Ways to Wellbeing Pack (Included in the box) asks you to explore time to breathe deeply. This Shhh… meditation from April 2020 explores the theme in more detail.

LANGUAGES OF CONNECTION

On the ‘Say Thank You’ in our 24 Ways to Wellbeing Pack we ask you to explore five languages of love or connection. This article from Ben Harper tells you more.

ELEVEN SEVEN

This ambient instrumental track was created by Steve Leach especially for this box.

A WORD ON PACKAGING AND RECYCLING

Your Wellbeing Box arrives in a recyclable cardboard box. We have as much as possible used tissue paper and shredded paper to package and keep safe all the items in your box. However for some items, to ensure safe postage we’ve needed to use bubblewrap. In every box we are using recycled bubblewrap that has been used in other packages we’ve received. We encourage you to do the same. Put the bubblewrap to one side and use in another package another time - that way we protect the planet and avoid it going into landfill. Thanks.

The Garden: Shhh Wellbeing

We’re so glad you’ve received your Wellbeing Box from Space to Breathe. This edition is called “The Garden.” We suggest you start by reading the story card in the pack about Fran and her city centre garden. It’ll help set the scene for everything else.

This QR Code gives you access to a number of supporting resources which we think will add to your wellbeing. Check these out.

Nature walk

This audio meditation gives you the chance to explore nature in a mindful way.

Spring Poem

This creative poem explores the meaning we can take from the change of seasons at Spring time.

Shhh… meditation: Nature and Wellbeing

Check out this fifteen minute meditation around nature which gives you some space to breathe and to reflect.

Welcome to your Wellbeing Box

This box contains all our tried and tested resources and materials that have supported individuals and groups through our work in the last six years. Below are some additional resources to support the meditations and activities in the pack.

THE MAKE YOUR OWN SNOWGLOBE

We’ve found that through 2020 and 2021, the image of a snow globe has been a really helpful reminder of what can happen to us in tough times. It feels like we get shaken up. But look at this video below. Notice how we have to wait to let things settle, and then we can see clearer.

To make your snow globe just add water and seal the lid. Then shake the snow globe to remind you that time to settle helps us. How can you take some time to settle today?

Pyramid of Needs

This worksheet helps you mindfully reflect on the feelings and emotions you have currently and the different and important needs you have as a person. Why not print it out and reflect on it over time. We think is this provides a useful resource alongside the cards in your pack.

AUDIO

We have also made this simple Mindful Meditation available to listen to here or to download as an MP3 and listen later.

THE STOP PROCESS

Alongside the breathing exercise we shared in the box, you may find the Stop Process helpful - this is a shorter 1-2 min adaptation of a breathing and grounding exercise.

A WORD ABOUT PACKAGING

Your Wellbeing Box arrives in a recyclable cardboard box. We have as much as possible used tissue paper and shredded paper to package and keep safe all the items in your box. However for some items, to ensure safe postage we’ve needed to use bubblewrap and small plastic bags. In every box these plastic items have been reused from elsewhere. We encourage you to do the same. Put the bubblewrap to one side and use in another package another time - that way we protect the planet and avoid it going into landfill. Use the plastic bags to house something else or to keep something safe in. Thanks

This Wellbeing Box is designed as a thank you.

THE REMEMBERING STRING

Included in your box is a simple piece of string with a tag on it. We encourage you to carry this string around with you and tie knots in it as a way of praying for individuals who are on your mind each day. Each knot will represent each person.

When you pray, hold the string and linger on each knot, recognising that each represents a prayer. Maybe place the string in your wallet or tie it to your bag.

the pause pack from space to breathe

As well as the cards, worksheets and items in your Pause Pack, we’ve also included some digital material below for you to enjoy.

PAUSE

Pause is a resource from Space to Breathe designed to create some space in your life for your wellbeing. Inside your pack are three cards on three subjects we find consistently aid wellbeing:

  • Grounding

  • Self-awareness

  • Perspective

We’d encourage you to take some time for each of the activities included and then begin to build your own toolkit of resources and ideas. You might want to explore our Wellbeing Suite as a further way to do this.

Pausing in life is like stepping off the treadmill. Check this video (above) for more.

TAKE A PAUSE WITH A BREATHING MEDITATION

Breathing is a great way to ‘ground’ ourselves and this meditation allows us to go a little deeper. This is an MP3 teaching a simple breathing technique to reduce stress (male voice). Listen below or download via the button.

TAKE A PAUSE WITH A MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

This second MP3 is a basic explainer about to practice mindfulness (male voice.) You can again listen or download below. Mindfulness is a great way to practice being present and can draw out ‘self-awareness’ and ‘perspective.’

TAKE A PAUSE WITH STARGAZING

One way to gain perspective on life is to stare into the night sky. You can spend time just wondering at it’s beauty. You can use the resources in the pack to help you navigate all that’s infront of you and have some fun at the same time. The cards in the Pack cover the night sky July - September. If you’d like to see other times you can download guides here.

We have also featured this great article on Stargazing from the Countryside Charity.

TAKE A PAUSE WITH JOURNALLING

Check out this video for a way to use your journal.

TAKE A PAUSE WITH PLANTING

We have loved to include some seeds in your pack. Check this audio reflection called “Planting Hope” to give you some inspiration.

TAKE A PAUSE WITH YOUR ‘HOLDING TRIANGLE’

We are delighted to include a Holding Triangle in your pack. This works just like a stress ball. Hold it, use it as something to figet with when you’re stressed. Get used to the smooth sides and shape.

We use an approach called the Wellbeing Triangle in our work, and holding the triangle whilst reflecting on this may help. Use the link below to find out more.

Why not hold on the triangle and run your finger along each side. As you do so, think of each element of the Wellbeing Triangle. One side for Self, one side for relationships with Others and one for your sense of Other.

The Wellbeing Triangle

Your Holding Triangle

All these resources have been designed and created listening to lived experiences of people across Sheffield. This is part of our ongoing work to support people in the area and if you’d like to help you can donate below.
