Rest Move Breathe: A Summer Series #1: A Place in The Sun

Guided Relaxations from Space to Breathe

This summer we’re going to be sharing a series of guided practices from Space to Breathe led by Fran.

#1 A PLACE IN THE SUN: A GUIDED RELAXATION

This time of year we can turn into quite the busy bees- with gardening tasks that need to be attended to, holiday preparations, all of the social events that take advantage of the longer evenings and warm temperatures. We can also experience what I think has been accurately described as ‘Summertime Sadness’, something I have felt many times: assuming everyone but me is having the best time out in the sun while I remained, safe, but rather sad, in my own home and certainly not sunbathing due to deep discomfort with my own body in seasonal appropriate clothes.

Whether either scenario resonates with you, or you have your own motivations behind seeking a guided relaxation this summer, sometimes what we need is simply permission — permission to create our own ‘place in the sun’ where we can stop, settle and feel at ease.

This guided relaxation recording is a gentle invitation back into the body to offer you a chance to soften, release, and reconnect to an inner, special place of safety and wholeness. Whether you’re winding down after a long day, needing a pause between busy tasks, or a way to regulate the nervous system when feeling anxious or dull, this guided practice offers a safe and supportive way to fill yourself up with what you need.

In this recording, you’ll be invited to:
👐 allow the body to feel supported and to release tension
🏞️imagine yourself in a place of deep comfort and safety
☀️ connect to the energy of the sun to recharge your batteries

This practice is about doing less — trusting that the earth will hold you, the sun will warm you, and that your body knows how to rest. There’s nothing to fix, nothing to plan. Just an opportunity to feel enough, exactly as you are.

To begin:

Find a quiet space to practice, one where you won’t be disturbed for the duration of the recording and shut the door. Get comfortable using whatever you have around you: maybe lying on the floor with a blanket to cover, a cushion under head and maybe under the knees and a cover over the eyes (you don’t need anything fancy, towels or scarves work just great!) Then press play, and give your whole self permission to simply be, in a deep sense of restorative ease.

🧡 You are invited to rest — not because you’ve earned it, but because it is an essential part of being human.
